HOVERBOARD WOES

hoverboard wasn't working right after a couple weeks.  The red lights were flashing, it was beeping, and it wasn't functioning.  This isn't a problem so much as an alert: the sensor systems are not reading out data correctly and need adjusting.  We fixed their problem over the phone in about 2 minutes!  Here is the right advice that addresses the issue.

Before anything, it is important to note that when stepping onto the hoverboard, your feet need to be flat (parallel to the Earth).  The hoverboard knows when your feet are too angled and will not activate.  Step onto the hoverboard like a step in a staircase, not like you're pushing the pedals in your car.

CALIBRATING THE TWO-WHEEL SMART BALANCE HOVERBOARD SCOOTER

If the hoverboard is still squawking, its sensors need a tune-up.  You need to calibrate the device, which takes about 60 seconds.  Follow these steps to resolve the problem.

  1. Make sure you do not press down on the foot pads during calibration.  This will cause permanent damage to the sensor associated with the foot pad, and the part will need to be replaced. Before calibration, press up and down on the foot pads to make sure they are in the fully off position.

  2. Perform calibration on ground that is as flat as possible.  No hills, no sloping driveways, no inclines.  The best place to calibrate the hoverboard is near an ocean, but any flat ground will do.

  3. Align the two halves of the hoverboard with each other.  They should be perfectly aligned and not twisted away from one another in any way.

  4. Keeping the halves aligned, make sure the hoverboard is parallel with the Earth as much as you can.  The footpads should be flat, parallel with the Earth.

  5. The two halves are aligned with each other, and the hoverboard itself is parallel with the Earth. Excellent, ready for calibration!

  6. Push and hold the power button for about 5 seconds.  You will hear first the on sound, but after a few seconds you will hear another beep.  At that time let go of the power button.

  7. You will see the lights flash.

  8. You will see all the lights turn off.

  9. You will see a slow lights flash in what looks like a "demo of lights" mode.

  10. When you see the slow flash of the lights demo, calibration is done.  Turn off device.

  11. Turn on device as per normal.  Get on and glide!

You may need to calibrate the device every so often if you notice a misalignment.  You may also need to calibrate after you crash it into something and the sensors get rocked.  LA GLYDERS pre-calibrates each of our products before we ship them out!

GET A SMART SOCKET

To protect your hoverboard battery, you need the Smart Socket shown at the top of this page.  The Smart Socket is the best way to charge your glyder, even if you did not get a hoverboard from us.  Almost all hoverboards do not use true smart charging.  Because of this, letting your glyder stay connected to the charger when the battery is full will eventually cause permanent damage to the battery, reducing your maximum distance and riding time. Letting your glyder charge overnight, for example, is not healthy for the battery at all.   Permanent damage caused by overcharging could cause a safety issue.  The Smart Socket solves this problem.  Simply connect to the charger, and press the button for timed charging. Click here to buy.
